![]() Percy shows up, and Thomas tells him everything. The next morning, Thomas is taking machines to Farmer McColl, but he wants to help Hiro. The Fat Controller tells them that there's lots of hard work in the morning, so they need to be up early, and he tells Thomas not to rush around with heavy trucks for no reason he wants Really Useful Engines - not Really Broken Engines, which makes Thomas worry more about Hiro. Thomas tells them all about his race, and is about to mention Hiro when the Fat Controller arrives. ![]() That night, all of the engines are at the Shed. Thomas knows he promised Hiro that he'd look after him, but now he's worried. ![]() ![]() Thomas drops the parts off at Hiro's Hideout, and sets for home when he notices that the new summer house is dangerously close to where Hiro is hidden. Stanley rumbles past, and doesn't see Thomas. Victor says it's only taking up space anyway, so Thomas rushes off with it.Īs he leaves, he hears Stanley behind him, and quickly hides in a siding covered with trees. Flarango finishes his day's work, and then comes by later to take the parts to Hiro. Victor scolds him for rushing around, while Thomas notices some engine parts on a flatbed. This is when we meet the clumsy but happy Kevin, who also works at the Steamworks. Victor scolds Stanley for taking up space sitting around chattering, and Stanley leaves, cross about having been spoken to in such a manner. Stanley starts to boast, but Thomas simply congratulates him on his win. Flarango is soon repaired, and then Stanley puffs into the Sodor Steamworks. One particular engine lives there, named Victor, a kind and enthusiastic engine (""). The Steamworks is a busy, bustling place, with all sorts of work being done. So instead, Thomas promises to not tell the Thin Controller until Hiro can be a Really Useful Engine once again.Īfter he finds Hiro, Flarango goes to the Center Island Steamworks to have his brakes fixed. Flarango's immediate reaction is to tell the Thin Controller, but Hiro believes that if the Fat Controller finds out, he'll be scrapped. He was hidden to avoid scrap, but the parts never came from his island, and he was quietly forgotten. However, as the years went on, he began to show his age, but Center Isle didn't have the necessary parts to repair him. Sodor was nothing like his old home, but he was still very happy. He sailed to Center Island (it is revealed that is in the middle of the South China Sea) on a big ship. Milo tells how he once worked on another island (Japan) far away, and was known as "Master of the Railway". Thomas is amazed, and Flarango asks Hiro what he was doing there ("Starlight Express"). There Thomas and Flarango come to find an old, abandoned engine named Hiro. Then the inevitable happens - Flarango's brakes break, and he and Thomas thunder down the hill and along the main line until they slide onto a rickety old track. He lets him switch points so that they can double-head the load. Stanley draws ahead while Flarango struggles up a hill with his load while discovering Thomas is helping him. Stanley, Flarango and Thomas race around the Island ("The Boys Are Back in Town"). No one notices Thomas coupling himself up to Flarango. Flarango and Stanley are coupled to their loads, and Newt announces the start of the race. ![]() All of the engines gather in the Yard to wish Flarango good luck. Stanley then challenges Flarango to a race to take place at dawn the next day. The new engine, Red, has had enough, and the other engines agree with him. The next morning, at Brendam Docks, Stanley teases Thomas about his size and strength. That night, all of the engines are tired and cross. Needless to say, nobody's pleased by the news, especially when Stanley rushes around with his work, teasing the other engines. It turns out that he is staying for the summer to help the Duke and Duchess build their summer house. Half way through their conversation, Stanley arrives. All of the engines soon have similar experiences and gather at Knapford to figure out what's going on. The movie starts with Thomas taking on water, when suddenly, Stanley rushes past.
